Pranking ABN AMRO Clients during their Safari

 

For a few weeks, all customers who took out a new travel insurance at ABN AMRO Insurances were eligible to win a full-service safari trip to Tanzania. When it came time to announce the lucky winner, ABN AMRO turned to VERTOV for a creative idea to do so.

How can we make a memorable event out of an ‘ordinary’ prize ceremony, that is appealing to many people and carries the message about the brand’s insurance product in an organic, non-obtrusive manner?

We decided to push the idea of winning a safari trip to its max, by pranking the unsuspecting winners into thinking they were caught in a Safari Gone Wrong. The online video that takes place in a limousine in Safari Park Beekse Bergen, was picked up by influentials websites and blogs such as dumpert.nl and magazines like Marie Claire, and garnered almost 200.000 views within two weeks, with a very positive rating amongst all viewers.

The video struck a chord among current and potential customers of all ages, and truly set up the tagline: The Travel Insurance by ABN AMRO. Even for the most unusual situations.
